The YSBA

Yorkshire Badminton Association Junior Section exists to promote and provide badminton opportunities for players of school age.

Organisation of the Associations activities is by a committed group of volunteer teachers, friends and coaches.

Representative county teams at U13, U15 and U17 play both nationally and internationally. Inter Area competitions are run for the 14 Educational Areas to compete against each other. School leagues and cup competitions are organised locally.

Knowledge of the game is passed to the players by the organisations group coaches. Coach training is also offered to the older players

Singles, doubles and mixed championships are held at all age groups from U11 to U17. YBA also operates restricted tournaments for non county squad players and open tournaments where individuals compete from around the country

Halls are booked by the Association in Schools, Colleges and public sports and leisure centres.

International tournaments have become a regular feature of the Associations tournament programme which is the most comprehensive in the country

Responsibility to provide an all round programme for the whole child not just a badminton player and to recognise the values that sport can bring to a child's development.

Enjoyment, overall, the emphasis is on Enjoyment, and once again enjoyment, which does not necessarily come from winning.
