With
a total of 158 players (102 boys and 56 girls) competing in the
different categories, all the players showed great determination
and enthusiasm, even with long periods of inactivity.
With
an average travel time of 2 hours, Yorkshire presented a good
turnout with winning 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. The
results are as follows:
Boys
Representing
Yorkshire were Chris Allen (3), George Brown (3), Stephen Colley
(3), Christopher Harrison (3), Luke Hutchinson (3), Clinton Lau
(3), Mark Middleton (2), Richard Morris (3), Zak Rastegar (3),
Daniel Shiels (2) and Michael Truswell (3).
In
Level 2, both Mark and Daniel narrowly lost out on progressing
from there groups but finished second. They both partnered each
other as Yorkshire only representitives in the main doubles were
they finished second in there group.
In
Level 3, Luke, Stephen, Christopher and Richard all progressed
from there groups but were unsuccessful in the knockout stages.
The
alternative doubles saw success for Clinton and Richard who took
the gold medal winning 15 – 6 against Haggett/Heads from
Bedfordshire.
Girls
Representing
Yorkshire were Lauren Birch (3), Jessica Fletcher (3), Sarah
Milne (3), Kate Robertshaw (2), Hayley Shipley (2), Rebecca
Walker (3), Danielle Whitaker (2) and Hannah Wilkie (4)
In
Level 2, Danielle, Kate and Hayley all started in separate
groups with Kate progressing onto the Knockout stages and
eventually reaching the final were she lost 11-5 13-10 to
Buckinghamshires Alyssa Lim, to take the silver medal.
In
the main doubles, Kate had her revenge by taking gold medal with
partner Hayley by beating Alyssa Lim/Natalie Gilder by 15-5
15-9.
Also
in the main doubles saw Sarah Milne and Jessica Fletcher in the
same group and Rebbeca Walker and Danielle Whitaker but neither
paring were successful in progressing to the knockout stages.
Although
no one progressed from their groups in level 3 singles, Lauren
and Sarah both finished second.
In
alternative doubles, both Hannah and Lauren were narrowly beaten
by the eventual finalists from their group.
One
entry from Yorkshire in level 4 singles saw Hannah Wilkie take
silver medal by losing 15-4 to Fiona Griffin of Bedfordshire in
the final.
Mixed
Excellent
result for Richard Morris and Danielle Whitaker who took bronze
medal after being knocked out 15-2 15-10 by the eventual gold
medalists, Mark Middleton and Kate Robertshaw.
