This Tournament
started in June 1995 and is now in its 10th
year. It is named after Cerryg Davies, a boy who played
for Yorkshire Schools, but tragically died of a rare heart
complaint.
It is usual that a
raffle in aid of the Heart Unit at Leeds General Infirmary is
held on the day, which usually raises £80-100 each year.
The total raised to date is almost £1,000.
The format of the
tournament is that 12 teams of 4 pairs compete throughout the
day. Each pair plays in a series of 'boxes'.
Nobody
is eliminated, rather, they continue to play for position in the
next round. Over 3 rounds the final positions are resolved
to give a personal position and also points are gained for the
team position.
This
year the Team event was won by Lancashire, Yorkshire 1 came
second, and Lothian third.
